Flower Tail Mermaid

This lovely image is called Flower Tail Mermaid drawn by Elaine Cox.  She can be found in the Spring/Easter section at Sweet Pea Stamps.

The papers are from the Basic Grey Plumeria collection.  I just love the color combo for Spring.  Had to take a bit of artistic license on the bunny.  Now he looks like one from my childhood called "Spot" (of course).

Shy Dragon

The minute I saw this image I fell in love!  This is Shy Dragon by Lisa Victoria for Sweet Pea Stamps.

Even with stickles for shine on his wings, this image can still make a wonderful masculine card when paired with this paper from the MME Lost and Found series.  Done with different colors, it would be perfect for a little girl as well.  I also thing it would make a great card for a baby shower.

King Edgar

Edgar is still a bit pouty after his adventures with Tinker, but he has asked me to tell you all that he appreciates your concern.  Currently, he and I are working on the 'tail issue'.  In the meantime, I am only allowed to take head shots, and he does not feel like talking today.

I hope that this creation will help DIVA King Edgar feel better and know he is loved.  It was great fun to create.

I just received some new supplies from Susana at SCACD.  The image is a stamp from the Dylusions Bird on a Wire set.  Ever since I first saw this set, I knew that one day it would be living at my house.  After stamping on white cardstock, I mixed up some of the new dragonfly Luminarte mica powder with glaze and painted around the image.  I know that color doesn't look like dragonfly, but I promise you, I am 98.9% positive it is.  I was doing a lot of playing, so I may have messed up, but I don't think so.  Don't worry, I will test it again later because, well, why not?  This stuff is SO fun, that I promise, you will want to play, and play, and play and....  WAIT, where was I?  Oh, yes, how to.  The crown is one of the Maya Road Mini chipboard pieces painted with black acrylic.  The images on the bottom are the bonus stamp from the Fairylicious Collection you get when you purchase the entire set.

I then used the edge of my scissors to distress the sides and tapped on some black ink with a sponge.  I mounted it on a black piece of cardstock to give it just a teeny tiny frame.

Fab Friends

Soon it will be spring and the trees will be in bloom and the creatures venturing out to see the world.  I can not wait!!!  I am excited to share my version done with the image Fab Friends from the Animapeeps collection at SCACD

The tree was made using a stencil from Crafters Warehouse called Branches Reversed.  The blooms are done with Flowersoft.  I haven't used this in a while and forgot what a fabulous effect it has.  Now I need to get this card in the mail to a friend so she can enjoy an early spring as well.

Fairies Little Companion

I love fairies and I love dragons, how could this image from ching chou kuiks Fantasy Art Collection at Sweet Pea Stamps not be one of my favorites?

This image is titled Fairies Little Companion and is part of Plate #70.  This plate has 4 great soft and innocent images on it.  Great ones for cards for little girls that love fairies, sparkles and to dream.  The background paper if from Basic Grey and the sparkles on the fairy and the dragon are done with Stickles.

Beyond the Burtonesque Dolls - Alter It!

BBD is back and ready to get rolling with some new challenges for 2012!!  The current challenges is to 'Alter It'.  What it?  ANY it!  Find it, play with it, love the process!!!

I decided to alter a puzzle piece using Beatrix the Witch.

I stamped the image with brown Momento ink onto card stock.  I then attempted to color it with distress inks.  I say attempt, because I didn't do the kind of job I had hoped for.  However, wielding a tiny paint brush with intent is a bit difficult for me.  Must practice more!   That said, I am happy with it.  Then I traced around the puzzle piece and cut out and glued on the paper.  I sanded the edges and the used more distress ink to darken the background behind the image and the edges.

I have an entire puzzle that I am going to gradually alter and then put together to see what the end result is.  I am working diligently to not care about which way is up, etc.  However, I suddenly realized that I might not be able to put this thing back together without a picture to guide me.  That could be an entertaining project to watch!   Before I get much further, I think I better assemble and number the backs!

Now, your turn!

Fluttering By

As I was out running this morning in the cold and under grey skies, I kept thinking about how lovely it will be in a few weeks when the bulb flowers start blooming.  It is always so cheerful after the gloomy late winter weather.  When I arrived home, I was determined to create something that made me thing spring.  What could be more spring than tulips?

I created this tag using some masking like Danni shared in the tutorial here and stencils like Lorraine shared in the tutorial here.

I used the tulip stamp and the butterfly from the Tulipa image from the Fall Flora Fairies.  I masked the butterfly while I inked the sky.  The swirls are created by inking a darker blue on using a stencil from Crafters Workshop.  I highlighted the base of the wings with some Smooch.  The entire tag was then spritzed with Shimmerz to give it some shine.

I am sitting here anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new Luminarte Silks and Mica Powder.  I watched THESE videos and now I MUST have them!  What colors are you going to get?

Challenges:
Flutter By Wednesday #192 - Open with a butterfly, fairy or angel
Crafty Ann's #60 - Anything But a Card
The Stamp Man - Colours of Spring / Easter
Cupcake Craftroom - Spring Bouquet
4 Crafty Chicks #79 - Anything But a Card

Hope your weather is sunny and bright, but if not, maybe it is time to make your own Spring!
